Code of Conduct

Circuit Benders’ Ball Code of Conduct

All attendees, speakers, sponsors and volunteers at our festival are required to agree with the following code of conduct. Organizers will enforce this code throughout the event. We are expecting cooperation from all participants to help ensuring a safe environment for everybody.

The Quick Version

Our festival is dedicated to providing a harassment-free festival experience for everyone, regardless of gender, age, sexual orientation, gender identity/expression, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, or religion. We do not tolerate harassment of festival participants in any form. Drug use and overconsumption of alcohol will not be tolerated. If a participant is too inebriated to make good decisions, we will escort them out and help them find a safe ride home. Sexual language and imagery is not appropriate for any festival activity, including performances, talks, or workshops. Festival participants violating these rules may be sanctioned or expelled from the festival without a refund at the discretion of the festival organizers.

The Less Quick Version

Harassment includes offensive verbal comments related to gender, sexual orientation, gender identity/expression, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, or religion. Actions that constitute harassment include deliberate intimidation, stalking, following, invasive/unwelcomed photography or recording, sustained disruption of talks or other events, inappropriate physical contact, and unwelcome sexual attention.

Participants asked to stop any harassing behavior are expected to comply immediately.

If a participant engages in harassing behavior, the festival organizers may take any action they deem appropriate, including warning the offender or expulsion from the festival with no refund.

Drug use and overconsumption of alcohol will not be tolerated. Inebriation does not excuse harassing behavior. If a participant is too inebriated to make good decisions, we will escort them out and help them find a safe ride home.

If you are being harassed, notice that someone else is being harassed, or have any other concerns, please contact a member of festival staff immediately. Festival staff can be identified as they’ll be wearing orange-glowing volunteer lanyards.

Festival staff will be happy to help participants contact local law enforcement, provide escorts, or otherwise assist those experiencing harassment to feel safe for the duration of the festival. We value your attendance.

We expect participants to follow these rules at festival and workshop venues and fest-related social events.
